CA-219, Wildland Firefighting – Firing Operations
DATE: June 26 – 30, 2023. Live fire days are scheduled for June 29 and 30. Black-lining may occur on June 28.
Attendance on all days is mandatory. There will be no provision for make-up. Per State Fire Training regulations, students may only miss up to 4 hours of class.
LOCATION: Classroom session location is TBD. Live fire sessions will be at Santa Theresa County Park.
TIMES: 0800 – 1800 (burn days could go longer)
PRICE: $1,250
REFUND POLICY: Registered students who cancel prior to June 12, 2023 will receive a full refund. Students who cancel on June 12th or later will not receive a refund.
ABOUT: This course provides information and develops skills for those who may be called upon to plan and/or lead a firing operation on wildland fires or prescribed burns. It is not a drip torch operations class. This course contains a mix of online and instructor-led training including live fire exercises. Students will be engaged in wildland firefighting and firing operations requiring strenuous activity, possibly under high heat conditions. Students are required to satisfactorily complete the online training portion of the course and pre-course quizzes prior to taking the instructor-led training.
PRE-REQUISITES: Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or higher certification and S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (classroom only – online S-290 is not acceptable). This course also requires approximately 8 hours of mandatory pre-course work.
