S-215, Fire Operations in the Wildland Urban Interface

DATE: April 2 – 4, 2024.

Attendance on all days is mandatory. There will be no provision for make-up. Per State Fire Training regulations, students may only miss up to 10% of the total class hours – 3 hours in this case.

LOCATION: Milpitas Fire Station 1, 777 S. Main St, Milpitas, CA 95035.

PRICE: ​ $375 (includes $75 State Fire Training certificate fee)

REFUND POLICY: Registered students who cancel prior to March 19, 2024 will receive a full refund.  Students who cancel on March 19th or later will not receive a refund.  No exceptions regardless of reason.

ABOUT: Instructional units include firefighter safety in the interface, managing human factors in the interface, pre-incident planning, sizeup and initial strategy, structure triage, structure protection overview, tactics in the interface, tactical operations and resource use in the interface, action
assessment, plan update, and after action review.

PRE-REQUISITESQualification as California SFT Firefighter 2 or NWCG Firefighter Type 1.

S-230, Crew Boss and S-231, Engine Boss

DATE: May 13 – 17, 2024.

ABOUT:

S-230: This course is designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of duties associated with the single resource boss position from initial dispatch through demobilization to the home unit. Topics include operational leadership, preparation and mobilization, assignment preparation, risk management, entrapment avoidance, safety and tactics, offline duties, demobilization, and post-incident responsibilities.

S-231: This is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of the duties associated with Engine Boss, Single Resource (ENGB). Topics include engine and crew capabilities and limitations, information sources, fire size up considerations, tactics, and wildland/urban interface.

PRE-REQUISITESQualification as California SFT Firefighter 2 or NWCG Firefighter Type 1.  Completion of S-290 (Online NWCG S-290 course is not acceptable).
